Anett Biliczki
The minimal Scandinavian coastal environment and abandoned industrial areas are my main sources of inspiration. When I walk along the coast, I am confronted by both the constant transformation of the landscape, and the experience of how nature is reclaiming the buildings, as the industry slowly vanishes from the area.
I create objects that embody these experiences of coastal landscape from my past and present with an aim to envision the layers of these intangible memories. With my work, I invite the viewer to create their own association and narratives of certain places, both imaginary and real.
In my working process, I combine plaster and glass and attention is drawn to the contrasting durability of the two materials. I manipulate the surface with an untraditional carving process, which is inspired by the observations and analyses of natural phenomena, for example sedimentation and erosion.
