Stine Bidstrup
I am engaged in the material glass because of its great potential to create meaning in a critical artistic context that can continuously be challenged beyond general views of what glass can be.
The motive force in my work is the idea of glass as a lens and membrane with both distortion and clarity that I use to focus, reflect, and enlarge – in brief transform – what is experienced through the lens and what it means to sense.
By initiating active ways of looking, and fusing this with spatial and tactile experiences, I create works that do not only envelop the eye and touch of the viewer, but also interject into cultural layers of memories and events.
